How can we provide local services and hold the line on property taxes?

When it comes to State services, thoughtful utilization of technology is a must. Last year I supported legislation that allows you to renew your driver's license on line. We can all register to vote, renew professional licenses and even obtain our car tags on-line rather than standing in-line. On line corporation registration and renewal has reduced the number of State employees needed to answer the phone and process paper work.

I will work with State and local government leaders to find ways for the State to increase its share for services provided by Grady Hospital to all of Georgia, today paid largely by the citizens of DeKalb and Fulton counties.

MARTA is the only urban transit system in the nation without significant State support. A regional transit system must take advantage of MARTA. I supported legislation last year requiring a full audit of MARTA but we must find ways to make MARTA an essential part of a regional system.
