My
family and I have lived in our Morningside home for 29 years.
We know what it means to be part of a neighborhood. We've
watched our jewel of an intown environment fall victim to
increasing unplanned development, traffic and pollution. The
quality of life that draws people to our District will require
vigilance to maintain. As your State Representative, I have
worked closely with the other members of the Atlanta/Fulton
County delegation and the City of Atlanta to help provide
a safe city, a comprehensive transportation system, clean
air and water, and intelligent implementation of neighborhood-sensitive
local and regional plans. Experts in our district have pointed
out that regional plans already exist for water and waste
management, transportation and land use. I will continue to
work closely with the new Mayor and City Council, the regional
authorities to coordinate transportation, water and land use
and these experts to elicit cooperation from local governmental
authorities in implementation of those plans. We cannot continue
to pay for those from the suburban counties who flood our
roads with their commuters' cars and pay not a dime for their
upkeep.
